ABOUT NLA

The National Lacrosse Association (NLA) is a professional field lacrosse league in North America. Headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, the NLA currently features 6 teams, each with a 24-player roster. By 2026, the NLA intends to expand to 12 teams as the league sets its sights on becoming the premier professional lacrosse league in the North America. NLA teams will not be tied to a specific home market as the league plans on using a barnstorming approach to capture that hearts of lacrosse fans around the country.

Mission

91% of professional lacrosse athletes are white, making it by far one of the least diverse professional sports in the United States. As a result, our mission is to intentionally diversify the sport of lacrosse and alter its aesthetics by giving some of the most notable and unknown lacrosse athletes of color the opportunity to play lacrosse at a professional level. The NLA has assumed the task of growing the game of lacrosse and are placing an emphasis on two major areas—addressing lacrosse’s lack of diversity and community outreach. The players on our rosters and our executive and front office staff are a direct reflection of the emphasis we are placing on diversity and inclusion as it pertains to growing the game of lacrosse. Our league and its members also have unprecedented access to low-middle socioeconomic and traditional lacrosse communities. We have a keen understanding of what needs to be done to change lacrosse's culture regarding the players that have been marginalized within the sport. Having such access enables us to attack lacrosse's issues at the grassroots level and provide support and funding to help lacrosse programs in underserved communities thrive
